Why is my aim to stop F, 0?

Hello. I use a Nikon D200 and have recently acquired a Nikon 28mm f/2.8 Ai-S Series E. 's Manuel approach Lens and when placed on my D200 and placing the aperture ring to which is the lowest value of 2.8 .. I get a reading of F-0 in the D200. In F-4 I -2 , 5.6 I -3 and so on. Im sure this is normal in a Series E manuel for putting in a digital camera Af. But can anyone give me a knowledge ABIT technicians as to what is really happening? Thanks:)

You have to go to the locked menu "and create" non-CPU lens data "(or something well, I'm not 100% sure why. Tell the camera what focal length is and what is the maximum aperture.
