HDMI and DVI are both regarded as excellent methods of connecting cable for high definition video. In terms of quality, both are exactly the same, so these two should not be compared in terms of quality. However, we know that HDMI can carry audio as well as video signals and is shown to be the main difference between the two. This can also be adjusted to allow a DVI source to connect to an HDMI display and vice versa, as both cable types are very similar and use the same encoding type.
DVI and HDMI both use the functions that can emit signals using the standard red, green and blue color components. Both are digital, and that means we are less based on similar specifications. HDMI was, in fact, derives from DVI to build, and therefore are very similar in how data is processed.
A DVI connection has three main connection types – DVI-D, DVI-A and DVI-I. The first of these three connections, DVI-D is a single digital connection, the second DVI-A only and the third analog, DVI-I is both analog and digital. The reason for the differences in these types connection are related to compatibility with different devices, some can work with DVI-D, but not DVI-A, etc.
The HDMI device was released in late 2002 and is similar in its ability to transmit uncompressed digital signals very similar to DVI. It can connect any digital audio source and compatible to another, as a TV with a game console, DVD player, PC or set top box. However, HDMI has a major drawback and that includes having multiple versions of launch each time it is updated as version 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3.
There are two major differences to be taken into account, however, DVI and HDMI, and this includes support the protection of content security. There is a system that uses HDMI in order to protect their media called High Definition Content Protection (HDCP), which incorporates HDMI and DVI currently does not. In addition, HDMI support audio, video as well.
What would be the recommended choice here? HDMI and DVI are very similar, but if I had to choose one or the other, it is probably a smart idea to go for HDMI. The main reasons for this conclusion is the fact that be capable of transmitting audio signals and allows the use of HDMI on a wide range of devices such as speaker systems for home entertainment that let you play music with better and faster connection cable. It is also a trend expected in the near future, the market will create a boost for more because HDMI DVI the practice in which you connect to HD sources to one display. The world is slowly pushing forward to adopt HDMI as standard HD screen definition of DVI, and although one is not better than the other, one can assume that the two HDMI stands out as being more popular.
