nikon 18-135mm vr
Need advice … I recently purchased a Nikon D80?

What filters do I …? Do I need a filter to protect the front glass my lens? I've looked into getting a filter POLORIZING, but not sure if I should be looking at something else also, is a must have .. There are so many options. I The goal of the kit 18-135mm and 55-200mm VR Thank you!

anyone use a skylight or UV filter to protect the glass front of the lens, but also filters can buy high quality flat glass for this purpose. Whatever you do, at least buy a decent quality filter instead of trying to go cheap. Personally, I I would say the first place to start for the effects is a polarizing filter. Want a "circular" polarizer. You can also find a density filter neutral (varying degrees of darkness are available), useful for taking pictures of bright subjects at the opening wider or slower speeds. As far that everyone else can do it in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Well, I will not argue with anyone about how best to use the real filter, but our questioner you can try some of Photoshop (etc) "free" and see what will be most useful before you start spending money on the real thing. Or go here http://www.thkphoto.com/products/hoya/index.html and see what we can learn. Or here http://www.tiffen.com/tiffen_filters.html Tiffen makes a kit to start on filters, if you think you want more than one. They include a polarizer, a UV filter and a warming filter. B & H Photo and many other places sell this kit. Many people use a filter UV just to protect the front element of your lens from damage. "UV filters absorb the ultraviolet rays which often make outdoor photos hazy or indistinct." (From http://www.thkphoto.com/products/hoya/gf-01.html) We got this question very often that I decided to upload a sample of Flickr showing the same subject taken with and without UV filter. Download the image, cut a small section of the upper and crawl to the same section in the bottom half and see what you think. The photos were taken about 15 seconds apart in subdued sunlight, so I think that the lighting was virtually identical for each. There were no post-processing to everyone to can make a fair comparison. I will not comment further and let you decide for yourself whether there is any change of color. Http: / / www.flickr.com/photos/7189769 @ N04/441244796 / The photo was taken with a Nikon D200 at ISO 100 with the Nikon 18-200 VR lens @ 112 mm at f/5.3. Here's a comparison I did by accident. Read the comments and include: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/1793551691/ buy a name brand like Hoya or Tiffen. No cheap junk to put in front of your lens fine. Personally, I am now switching to the high quality optical glass friction "filters" Nikon for lens protection, but cost more than a good UV filter.
