I have an Olympus Evolt 410 and tried to take photos of fireworks with the fireworks setting.?

They are only colored lines is because I have not used the tripod and was Shakey?

That's right. Fireworks requires keeping the camera steady when using a tripod or place the camera on a sturdy object. No one hand can hold a camera for a few seconds to 1/8th or more without any movement of the camera, still evident. Actually there were some things you could have done to use the camera movement to improve the image. The zoom during exposure, the rotation of the camera 90 degrees during exposure and move the camera with intent for long-term exposure.
